I was asked to join the amazing crew of Inside Out 2 late in the game to help support a push to rework the third act of the film. I was given ‘Joy’s Epiphany’, a scene where Joy realizes she’s been hiding difficult memories from Riley to prevent them from hurting her. Joy realizes that by avoiding painful memories, Riley is unable to cope and grow, falling into a spiral of anxiety and self blame. I improvised a section where Joy flashes back to her removing the memories, visualizing what’s going on in Joy’s head.
